PACA’s 2026 Annual Float Your Cardboard Boat Regatta!
Saturday August 15th, 2026
Hawksbill Recreation Park
First race starts at 10am • Check-in will start at 9am


Please read carefully!  Boats that do not comply with the rules will not be eligible for prizes. 

Rules for Building an Eligible Cardboard Boat
  • Boats must be made entirely from cardboard, no more than 3 layers thick. They must not be
  • bonded to any other material including but not limited to, vinyl or wax (similar to what is used
  • in packing cases).
  • The boat may NOT be covered in plastic sheeting, fiberglass, or another kind of resin, tape,
  • epoxy glue, other “multi-part” glues or varnishes or other adhesive.
  • Joints and seams only may be taped and/or glued. You may use glue, sealant, rubber, contact
  • cement, paint , or tape. Tape or another sealant may not extend more than 2 inches to either
  • side of the seam.
  • No metal, wood, Styrofoam, other types of foam, or plastic may be used.
  • Boats may not exceed 16 feet in length and may not exceed 10 feet in height.
  • All boats must be inspected at check-in. Event officials reserve the right to disqualify boats for
  • violations of the above rules.
  • Have fun and use your imagination! 


Race Rules
  • Each boat must contain at least 1 person with a maximum of 4 people per boat.
  • If your boat sinks or falls apart, you are not eligible to win the race prize.
  • Boats must be controlled with paddles-no motors or flippers. Paddles must be provided by
  • participants.
  • No participant may interfere with or harass another participant. Poor sportamanship will
  • result in race elimination.
  • All participants must wear a personal floatation device. PFDs must be provided by
  • participants.
In addition to race winners, prizes will also be awarded for the following, so get creative!
  • Team Spirit (most spirited team of the day!) 
  • Best Costume (most creative attire and boat!)
  • Titanic (most spectacular sink!) 
  • Pride of the Regatta (most spectacular cardboard boat entry!) 


Liability waivers must be signed by all participants at check-in on race day.
